Had an issue last night when my hybrid fibre connection went down, the connection stated it was connected but no traffic was passing through the Sky router. It was about the time that the Xbox live system was experiencing issues, about 1:15am in the morning. I've had to do this once before for the same reason. A quick reboot of the Sky router after about 5 minutes of noticing solved the issue. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Noticed that individuals were complaining about issues with their connections last night around the Internet, think it was down to an issue with Sky's end of the system, as I'm connected from Plymouth through London myself. Whether it was down to the general attack around the Internet maybe the reason, that's in my opinion whilst monitoring on the tor network.
Had to reboot Sky router last night, attack on network

Re: Had to reboot Sky router last night, attack on Internet
I believe this was some form of attack on the Sky network, reference Sky router or further up the line on WAN side. Reasoning; 1. LAN side working absolutely fine. 2 Router statistics good as usual. at time of checking whilst connection was physically connected but passing no or only some types of traffic to the WAN side. 3. My connection to my HTTP server was working internally LAN side using its URL, so assuming the router caches DNS, as I check it often for that domain. 4. No other URL was working to anywhere.. 5. Testing the connection to my http server from a mobile network also didn't respond, proving that no traffic was passing in either direction, so DNS was working externally and a reboot cured connection WAN passing traffic issue. 6. I'm on a fixed IP address. 7. My SamKnows box didn't actually report an issue, so issue with IP latency spike clearly some traffic getting through IP wise ICMP. SamKnows traffic didn't have time to trigger on schedule, so have not an idea of other traffic types. 8. I do own an Xbox One, it was on but not working Internet wise. 9. Did occur before, when Xbox Live system was being attacked at Christmas period. 10. Others reported similar issue around the time, peak in complaints.
Question; does the Sky router WAN side have a protection mechanism, firewall trigger to stop some signature based traffic, say it was being used in an amplification DDoS attack, I assume so!? Traffic may have been related to firewall signature trigger?
That's about it, conclusion firewall on Sky's WAN side should really clear the firewall trigger automagically, as it did when I rebooted Sky router to establish new connection.
