The Windows OS in the client environment is slowly moving in a downward spiral, and the only direction is to incorporate more server functionality, especially as broadband connections move in the super fast direction, domestic home wise. With my own PC running Windows ultimate it is mainly functioning as a server; as a media centre server, FTP server, web server, database server and development system.
With the popularity of tablets taking over from the PC for general purpose use and used whilst watching TV, browsing the internet and some people even contribute by writing articles on forums such as this, it's not surprising that it's nearly an end to Windows just as a client environment for browsing the internet, etc...
For general purpose use my iPad is my primary tool...
What direction do others see the Windows environment moving and why?
Looking further into the future in the server direction.
